Box Launches All-in-One Desktop Touch Computers
5th November 2010

Box Technologies, a Total Solutions Provider, has launched the new generation of Tyco Electronics’ Elo TouchSystems All-in-One (AiO) desktop touch computers. The B-Series answers the industry need for a single, compact and retail-hardened touch-computer platform to support countertop, pole- and wall-mounted applications and environments.

The Elo B-Series has been developed to meet the diverse needs of a wide variety of Point-of-Service (POS), Point-of-Information (POI), and point-of-service venues, including retail and hospitality display units, customer loyalty systems, Internet access sites, digital signage as well as bedside entertainment, home automation and control.

The range provides a compact design, more flexibility with a choice of configuration and connectivity options, more serviceability with easy access to key components, and more processing power. In addition, a wide array of field-installable peripherals, spill-resistant sealing, and a selection of input/output port connection options make the B-Series both versatile and powerful.

The B-Series offers a uniquely efficient, scalable AiO platform for the delivery of tailor-made solutions to the ever-changing retail market. With multiple connection ports and PCI-E (PCI Express) expansion slots for easy system configuration no matter what the installation environment, the B-Series fits almost any space constraint or in-store design demand. In addition, a tool-less design provides access to internal components to minimise service and repair downtime.

“Box Technologies is a leading EPoS solution provider, so it made perfect sense to recognise our close relationship by launching our latest touchscreen computer generation,” said Chris White, UK Sales Manager, Elo TouchSystems. “Our new B-Series are powerful yet easy-to-use touchscreen computers designed for a wide range of solutions - well-suited for the market where Box Technologies successfully operates.”

The majority of commercial touch computers feature limited connectivity ports and few expansion capabilities - greatly limiting system functionality. To increase configuration options, the new B-Series comes standardised with multiple connectivity ports including: six USB 2.0 ports, two RS-232 serial ports, Gigabit Ethernet and audio ports.

PCI-E low-profile industry-standard option cards deliver enhanced performance and compatibility. Additionally, B-Series peripherals support virtually any retail/POS application and include a 3-track magnetic stripe reader (MSR), a rear-facing customer display, and a biometric fingerprint reader, all of which can be customer installed on the top, bottom, left, or right side of the screen.

The B-Series also provides multiple memory and storage configurations and options, as well as scalable computing power featuring three high-performance Intel processor configurations. Screen sizes include both 15- or 17-inch configurations, and Zero-Bezel touch technologies provide a unique, seamless edge-to-edge surface design for a sleek, clean appearance that is easy to maintain.

Other options include RAID for continuous data protection and reduced downtime, as well as HDMI output (included in certain B-Series models) for true high-definition video and audio as well as secure transmission of protected information.

“Elo TouchSystems is at the forefront of touchscreen technology, so we’re absolutely delighted to be working with them to launch their latest products in the UK”, added Gareth Aconley, Marketing Manager, Box Technologies. "We are also proud that Elo TouchSystems has chosen Box Technologies to fulfil its warehousing, deployment, large stock holding, hot staging and configuration needs, once again proving that Box Technologies is a total service provider.”
